Job description
The department of Mathematics and Computer Science (M&CS) of the Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands has a permanent position open for PhD-TA students. The PhD-TA position is a five year research-teaching position and should lead to a PhD thesis. A PhD-TA student conducts and publishes scientific research and spends about 30% of her/his time on teaching (e.g. tutorials, practical classes and/or lectures). The research topic is open and can in principle be chosen by the candidate.

- You have a solid background in mathematics and/or computer science;
- You have good communication skills in English, both in speaking and in writing;
- You have a sound understanding of mathematical (in particular combinatorial) optimization and/or theoretical computer science;
- You have experience in teaching and have developed didactic skills;
- In addition, you are inquisitive, analytically talented, and preferably equipped with implementation skills;
- Creativity and team spirit are also very welcome.

- The candidate should have full support from a promoter and a daily supervisor (who could be the same person as the promoter) from the department of M&CS;
- The candidate should have prepared a written research proposal that is approved by the anticipated supervisors (or formulated together with the anticipated supervisors);
- The candidate should provide a written motivation for applying for a PhD-TA (including the motivation for teaching);
- The candidate should provide a detailed curriculum vitae, including teaching experience and an overview of the performance of her/his graduate program (e.g. course grades);
- The candidate should provide at least one reference (who could be one of the supervisors);
- The candidate should provide copies of diplomas.
