Boudewijn van Dongen

Boudewijn’s research focusses on conformance checking. Conformance checking is considered to be anything where observed behavior, needs to be related to already modeled behavior. Conformance checking is embedded in the larger contexts of Business Process Management and Process Mining. Boudewijn aims to develop techniques and tools to analyze databases and logs of large-scale information systems for the purpose of detecting, isolating, diagnosing and predicting misconformance in the business processes supported by these systems. The notion of alignments play a seminal role in conformance checking and the PA group is world-leading in the definition of alignments for various types of observed behavior and for various modelling languages.

  • Foundations of Process Mining (2AMI10) 2022 - Data science is the profession of the future, because organizations that are unable to use (big) data in a smart way will not survive. It is not sufficient to focus on data storage and data analysis. The data scientist also needs to relate data to process analysis. Process mining bridges the gap between traditional model-based Read More ...
  • Capita Selecta Process Analytics (2IMI05) 2022 - This course can only be followed by permission of the responsible lecturer. People interested in the ‘process side’ of information systems can take the course ‘Capita selecta architecture of information systems’. This course will be organized in an ad-hoc manner taking into account the interests of the student. The focus will always be on a Read More ...

This course will be organized in an ad-hoc manner taking into account the interests of the student. The focus will always be on a particular ‘hot topic’ in the information systems domain. The course can, in Read More ...
  • 2IOI0 DBL Process Mining - In this DBL, students get a chance to get a first glimpse on process mining. Through a practical case, students will learn the basics of data mining in the context of (business) processes and they build a prediction model for process aspects. In the basic course Data Analytics for Engineers, students have seen the basics Read More ...
  • 2IMI00 Seminar Process Analytics - In this seminar, a group of master students will get in touch with research in the area of Information Systems, where Process Mining and Process Analysis from Event Data are the central themes. We study recent publications in the area of process mining and practical applications on real-life examples, to provide a good insight into Read More ...

  • Certif-AI - Certif-AI: Certification of production process quality through Artificial Intelligence Description Production processes can be made ‘smarter’ by exploiting the data streams that are generated by the machines that are used in production. In particular these data streams can be mined to build a model of the production process as it was really executed – as Read More ...
  • Process Mining in Logistics - Process Mining in Logistics is a joint project of the Data Science Center Eindhoven and Vanderlande industries. Description Logistics processes are notoriously difficult to design, analyze, and to improve. Where classical processes are scoped around the processing of information associated to a specific unique case, logistics deals with physical objects that are grouped and processed Read More ...
  • Philips Flagship - Description The Data Science Centre Eindhoven (DSC/e) is TU/e’s response to the growing volume and importance of data and the need for data & process scientists (http://www.tue.nl/dsce/). • DeLiBiDa - Desire Lines in Big Data Description The goal of process mining is to extract process-related information from event logs, e.g., to automatically discover a process model by observing events recorded by some information system. Despite recent advances in process mining there are still important challenges that need to be addressed. In particular with respect to Read More ...
  • BPR4GDPR - Business Process Re-engineering for General Data Protection Regulation Description The goal of BPR4GDPR is to provide a holistic framework able to support end-to-end GDPR-compliant intra- and interorganisational ICT-enabled processes at various scales, while also being generic enough, fulfilling operational requirements covering diverse application domains. To this end, proposed solutions will have a strong semantic foundation Read More ...
  • 3TU.BSR - 3TU – Big Software on the Run Description Millions of lines of code – written in different languages by different people at different times, and operating on a variety of platforms – drive the systems performing key processes in our society.
